Submissions are open to academic staff, professional staff, and students from Western Australian universities.
We encourage proposals from a wide range of voices, including early-career educators, Indigenous staff and students, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, and neurodiverse colleagues.
All proposals must be submitted via the online form (see the Submit Your Proposal page).
Each submission must clearly indicate:
Which stream it belongs to.
Which presentation category it fits (Showcase, Interactive Workshop, Nuts & Bolts, or Closing Panel).
Proposal Requirements
Showcase Presentation: max. 250 words
Interactive Workshop: max. 150 words
Nuts and Bolts: max. 100 words
Closing Panel: indicate if you’d like to self-nominate as a Panel Champion (additional form questions apply)
Use clear, accessible language (accepted abstracts are published in the program)
Submissions must be completed online by the 7th November.
All proposals are reviewed by members of the WATLF 2026 Committee, using transparent criteria.
To ensure fairness:
Reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest.
The Committee Chair manages moderation where required.
Each proposal is assessed for:
Alignment with the theme and streams
Clarity of expression and accessibility
Relevance and value for the WATLF community
Submissions are moderated to ensure balance across streams, institutions, and presentation types
Reviewers may recommend acceptance, revision, or non-acceptance.
If revisions are requested, authors will be invited to resubmit.
The Committee aims to create a balanced program across streams, institutions, and presentation types.
Strong consideration is given to cross-institutional representation
Final program decisions rest with the WATLF Committee
Unsuccessful submissions may be recommended for alternative formats or future forums
Strong proposals are those that:
Align clearly with the theme and streams.
Are innovative, inclusive, and grounded in practice.
Demonstrate relevance for both academic and professional staff.
