University Life: Being, Becoming, Belonging is an invitation to all who shape and enhance the lives of students and colleagues through the development and delivery of teaching and learning programs within and beyond the classroom.
This theme invites us all to reflect on the diverse roles that we play within our university communities. It is an opportunity to share, showcase, engage and celebrate how we have:
developed our university community’s self-efficacy, self-awareness and self-knowledge
supported and contributed to the wellbeing and lives of our students, our colleagues, our peers and friends within the various university communities that we belong to
utilised approaches that helped our university communities become more resilient through change and transformation
cultivated a sense of belonging around the pursuit of academic excellence, student interests or institutional affinity.
We look forward to welcoming you to Murdoch University to have many stimulating discussions on the theme of University Life: Being, Becoming, Belonging.

Professor Sally KIFT
Professor Sally KIFT
Professor Sally Kift is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA), a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law (FAAL), and President of the Australian Learning & Teaching Fellows (ALTF). She has held several university leadership positions, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at James Cook University. Sally is a national Teaching and Program Award winner, a Senior Teaching Fellow and a Discipline Scholar, Law. In 2017, she received an Australian University Career Achievement Award for her contribution to Australian higher education. In 2018, Sally was appointed by the federal Minister to the Australian Qualifications Framework Review Panel that reported to Government in the following year. Since 2019, Sally has been the Commissioning Editor for Campus Morning Mail’s ‘Needed Now in Learning & Teaching’ series.
Drawing on extensive experience of over 30 years in HE policy, practice and executive leadership, Sally now works as an independent tertiary education consultant. Her particular areas of interest include: ‘Transition Pedagogy’; student support; educational equity; learning leadership; student and staff mental health; modernising qualification design; and employability and future skills.
Professor Kift will present on Thursday 2nd February 2023.
Dr. Bep Uink
Dr. Bep Uink
Dr Bep Uink (Master of Applied Psychology (Clinical), PhD) is a Noongar woman from Perth, WA. She is the co-lead of the Aboriginal Culture, Education and Equity (ACEE) Lab at Kulbardi Aboriginal Centre, Murdoch University. Her research focuses on understanding how socially determined disadvantage impacts the social emotional well-being of young people, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, and how social systems such as higher education can support young peoples’ well-being. Her work spans investigations into adolescent emotion regulation, the barriers and enablers of Indigenous student success in higher education, gendered barriers to higher education, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQA+ youth mental health. She currently holds an ARC Discovery Indigenous grant investigating the impacts of every-day racism on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adolescents and how non-Indigenous peoples can act to interrupt and prevent racism.
Dr Uink will present on Friday 3rd February 2023.

The WA Teaching and Learning Forum Committee invites interested presenters and facilitators to consider their proposals in one of four types of submissions. Submissions are due [EXTENDED DATE] 9th November 2022.
There are four types of submissions:

For the health and well-being of all participants, please maintain health practices, including not attending the Forum if you are unwell, and consider wearing a mask.
This message is updated periodically to reflect current and potential future directions.
CONTINGENCY PLANNING: In the unlikely event that the face-to-face Forum be untenable due to severe restrictions or other government regulations, a fully online version will be ready. In this case, the Forum will be presented via MS Teams, and registered participants will receive email communication up to the morning of the Forum. Presenters are advised to have their own contingency plan in mind.
